Netflix’s Tribhuvan Mishra: CA Topper attempts to break new ground with its unique premise of a chartered accountant moonlighting as a gigolo.

This bold concept, envisioned by Puneet Mishra, the creator of Mirzapur, offers a fresh perspective rarely seen in Indian cinema. Despite its innovative angle, the series struggles to deliver on its potential.

Set in Noida, the series ambitiously tackles themes of sex and desire through a cultural lens rarely explored. However, the execution leaves much to be desired.

The show is a disjointed blend of absurd satire and social drama, failing to settle into a coherent genre. It meanders through long, often aimless scenes that search for humor or emotion without successfully finding either.

Manav Kaul, though well-cast, and Tillotama Shome, deliver performances that are undercut by inconsistent writing. The show relies heavily on Mirzapur-style language and cursing, which, while entertaining at times, overshadow the more nuanced elements of the story.

The supporting cast, including Shubhrajyoti Barat and Shweta Basu Prasad, seem to enjoy themselves, but their performances cannot salvage the series from its broader shortcomings.

One of the most significant issues is the series’ length. At nine hours, it is excessively long and fails to maintain engagement. The pacing is sluggish, with episodes dragging due to unnecessary reaction shots and sidekick banter. The lack of crisp editing and an underwhelming soundtrack further detracts from the viewing experience.

Ultimately, Tribhuvan Mishra: CA Topper collapses under the weight of its own ambition. What could have been a groundbreaking series becomes a frustratingly bloated watch.

While the premise is intriguing, the series loses its way, leaving viewers disappointed and disengaged by the chaotic and unsatisfying conclusion.
