Official bookings for the upcoming Nissan X-Trail SUV will begin in India on July 26, with a token sum of Rs 1 lakh. The model lineup will be offered in a single, fully-loaded variant with a 7-seat configuration, powered by a 1.5L VCT petrol engine. The gasoline motor, with 12V mild hybrid tech and an X-Tronic CVT automatic gearbox, delivers a claimed power of 163bhp and 300Nm of torque. Buyers will have three exterior color options to choose from: Diamond Black, Pearl White, and Champagne Silver.
In India, the Nissan X-Trail will be imported as a CBU (completely built-up) unit, which is why it’s likely to come at premium pricing. While its prices will officially be revealed on August 1, we expect it to cost around Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). Initially, the carmaker will bring in 150 units of the SUV. Being a monocoque SUV, the X-Trail will compete against the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan.
Nissan X-Trail Overview
According to the leaked brochure, the new Nissan SUV measures 4680mm in length, 1840mm in width, and 1725mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2705mm. It has a ground clearance of 210mm and offers a fuel tank capacity of 55 liters. Its boot space varies between 177 liters and 1424 liters. The SUV features single-piston swing-caliper ventilated disc brakes at the front and rear. The suspension duties are carried out by an independent strut type with twin-tube shock absorbers up front and an independent multi-link type with twin-tube shock absorbers at the rear. It comes with 255/45/R20 size tyres.
