Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman celebrate as Deadpool and Wolverine breaks world record

Actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have been awarded two Guinness World Records titles ahead of the release of their latest film, Deadpool & Wolverine.

The Marvel superheroes were surprised with the official GWR certificates on ITV’s This Morning during an interview with host Alison Hammond.

As the co-owner of Wrexham AFC, Reynolds was first given a certificate that recognized the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham, Wales, UK, as the oldest international football groundhaving been in use for 147 years and 31 days as of 5 April.

“This means so much to me and my Welsh ancestors,” said Reynolds.

Then, the pair were gifted a certificate they could share, in celebration of Deadpool & Wolverine having the most viewed movie trailer in 24 hours.

The advert, which premiered at Super Bowl LVIII, racked up 365 million global views across all platforms from 11-12 February.

The Deadpool actor claimed: “What? One million for every day of the year, that’s so awesome!”

Just before the surprise certificate presentation, Reynolds coincidentally recalled the moment Jackman received his first GWR certificate on This Morning five years ago.

During the episode in 2019, the Wolverine actor explained that securing a world record had been a lifelong goal for him: “When I was a kid, the Guinness Book of Records was it.”

This dream finally came true when Craig Glenday, Guinness World Records Editor-In-Chief, awarded him for achieving the longest career as a live action Marvel superhero.

On the show, Hammond also asked the duo about their experience working together on Deadpool & Wolverine.

Describing Reynolds, Jackman said: “He is singular, as a writer, as a producer, as a co-star.

“Honestly the best I’ve ever seen.”

“As a co-star and a dance partner, I have had better,” Reynolds jokingly replied. “Better is actually the legal name of my last co-star.”

Deadpool & Wolverine will be released in cinemas on 25 July.
