Guwahati, July 25 (HS). The Assam Olympic Association (AOA) launched a signature campaign to wish success to Lovlina Bargohai in the upcoming Paris Olympics.
The AOA organised a special signature campaign in Guwahati on Thursday to send a congratulatory message to Lovlina Bargohai for winning the gold medal at the Summer Olympics held in Paris.
Many people signed the flex wall and sent messages to the beloved boxer.
Assam government minister Pijush Hazarika, Arjuna Award winner Monalisa Barua Mehta, general secretary Lakshya Konwar, Indian Boxing Association general secretary Hemanta Kalita and other sportspersons and dignitaries were present at the event.
In his address, Piyush Hazarika wished Lovlina all the best for the upcoming Olympics. He said that he is confident that Lovlina will win medals. He said that we have to encourage and support our players. He said that the Assam government has taken special steps to support and encourage the athletes of the country. We hope that India’s strong 117-member team will win medals in all Olympic competitions and show their talent. He said that this has been possible due to the important steps taken by the government to develop the sports system in the country.
It is noteworthy that Lovlina Bargohai will compete for the Indian boxing team in the 75kg category.
Sanjana Barwa from Jorhat was felicitated for being nominated as the first jury member of the shooting branch in the forthcoming Paris Olympics and renowned swimmer Alvin Ali Hazarika were also honoured at the meeting.
