Production-Ready Citroen Basalt Revealed; Launching Soon

The French automaker is all set to expand its Indian product portfolio with the Citroen Basalt coupe SUV, which will go on sale on August 2, 2024. The model has now made its debut in its production-ready avatar via official images. The coupe SUV, which remains true to its concept, shares several design elements with the C3 Aircross.

Upfront, it features the signature grille with a chrome logo above it and LED projector headlamps with X-shaped split DRLs. The dual-tone alloy wheels, coupe roofline, flap-style door handles, blacked-out rear bumper, horizontal LED taillamps, and silver skid plate enhance its appearance.

One major feature that the Citroen Basalt misses out on is a sunroof, while its upcoming rival – the Tata Curvv – will have a panoramic sunroof with voice assistance. Citroen has equipped the coupe SUV with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster.

Features such as auto climate control with toggle switches, a front armrest with storage, wireless phone charger, keyless entry, push button start/stop, cruise control, and contoured rear headrests will also be on offer. For safety, the Basalt offers electronic stability control, 6 airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and a rear parking camera.

Citroen Basalt Features

In India, the Citroen Basalt will be offered with a single 1.2L turbo petrol engine with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options. The gasoline unit delivers a claimed power of 110PS and torque up to 205Nm.

Prices of the Basalt are likely to start from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 11 lakh onwards. Besides competing against the upcoming Tata Curvvit will also take on midsize SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. It will be the fifth offering from Citroen in India.
