Mahindra Thar Roxx is ready to hit Indian roads on August 15, 2024. It’s essentially the 5-door version of the Thar with slightly different styling, more features, and some serious off-road capabilities. Select Mahindra dealers have already started accepting bookings for the lifestyle off-road SUV. Its prices will be announced in the coming weeks, though we expect them to be priced from Rs 18 lakh to Rs 23 lakh. In terms of pricing and positioning, the Thar Roxx will compete with the 5-door Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
First, talking about its powertrains, the Mahindra Thar Roxx will be made available with three engines – 1.5L diesel, 2.2L diesel, and 2.0L petrol. The 1.5L diesel, which will be reserved for the entry-level variant, will come with an RWD setup. The turbo-petrol and diesel variants will come with the 4WD drivetrain system.
The design of the Thar Roxx will be slightly different from its 3-door version. Instead of the seven-slot grille, the 5-door Thar will have a six-slot unit along with new LED projector headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, black wing mirrors with an integrated 360-degree camera, and door frame-integrated rear door handles. The all-LED lighting system and 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels will be available only with the higher trims. Read: New-Gen Mahindra Bolero, Bolero EV Launch Timeline
The Mahindra Thar Roxx will borrow the dual screen setup from the XUV700, featuring a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. The infotainment unit will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Additional features include a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control, leatherette seat upholstery, wireless phone charging, rear AC vents, front parking sensors, and six airbags. The higher trims of the off-road SUV will be exclusively offered with a panoramic sunroof and a Level 2 ADAS suite.
Official details of the Mahindra Thar Roxx will be revealed in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to IndiaCarNews.
