The next 2-3 weeks are going to be action-packed for the Indian automobile industry as there will be four major SUV launches from carmakers like Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Nissan, and Citroen. Let’s take a look at key details of the soon-to-be-launched SUVs.
Nissan X-Trail
The first launch will be a premium three-row SUV from Nissan – the X-Trail. Bookings for the model are already underway nationwide at an initial sum of Rs 1 lakh. The carmaker will bring in the SUV in a single, fully-packed variant powered by a 1.5L petrol engine (163bhp/300Nm) paired with 12V mild hybrid tech. Only an X-Tronic CVT automatic gearbox will be on offer. It will come in Pearl White, Diamond Black, and Champagne Silver color options.
Citroen Basalt
Citroen is set to launch the Basalt coupe SUV in the first or second week of August 2024. The model will share its platform, features, and powertrain with the C3 Aircross, which is the reason we expect it to come at aggressive pricing. For power, the Citroen Basalt will use the 1.2L turbo petrol engine that’s good enough for 110PS and 205Nm. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.
Tata Curvv EV
The much-anticipated Tata Curvv EV will hit showrooms on 7th August 2024. The coupe SUV is reported to be offered with two different battery packs – 40.5kWh and 55kWh – delivering an estimated range of around 465km and 550km, respectively. The carmaker will also bring in its ICE version during the 2024 festive season. The Curvv petrol will come with the 1.2L turbo and 1.2L GDi motor options, while the diesel model will feature the Nexon’s 1.2L unit. Similar to Tata’s new breed SUVs, the Curvv will be packed with several segment-first features and advanced goodies.
Mahindra Thar Roxx
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is certainly one of the biggest new car launches of 2024. The SUV will be offered with three engines – 1.5L diesel, 2.2L diesel, and 2.0L petrol – and two drivetrain options – RWD (for the lower variants) and 4WD (for the higher variants). The higher trims of the Thar Roxx will come with some exclusive features, including a panoramic sunroof and ADAS tech. Features such as a dual screen setup, a digital instrument cluster, a 9-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, auto-dimming IRVM, automatic climate control, and 6 airbags will also be on offer.
