Indian 2, a highly anticipated sequel featuring Kamal Haasan and directed by Shankar, was expected to be a major hit. However, the film has turned out to be a massive disaster at the box office.
Despite the high hopes pinned on it, the movie has performed poorly, grossing just 85 crores domestically and 50 crores overseas, totaling 135 crores worldwide, according to trade experts.

The film’s dismal performance has led to a significant setback for its OTT release. Initially, Netflix had secured the streaming rights for Indian 2, reportedly paying between 100 to 120 crores.
However, Netflix is seeking a substantial refund and is unwilling to honor the previously agreed deal of 120 crores. Recently, OTT platforms have been adjusting their final deals based on a film’s box office results.

Consequently, negotiations between Netflix and the makers of Indian 2 are underway, which has led to a delay in the film’s OTT release.
OTT denying to stream Indian 2 is another blow to a big director like Shankar. The film’s failure at the box office and the complications with its OTT release must have been quite disturbing to Shankar as he never faced such rejection.
Fans and industry observers are now hoping for Shankar to make a kickass comeback with Game Changer, which is anticipated to restore his brand and deliver the success his previous films have enjoyed.
