Jeep Compass EV To Debut In November 2024

The Jeep Compass SUV is set to enter its next generation in 2026. Codenamed J4U, the all-new model will be built on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, which is compatible with both ICE and electric powertrains as well as various body styles. The architecture is claimed to offer an electric range of 310 miles (around 500km) with the Standard pack and up to 435 miles (nearly 700km) with the Performance pack on the WLTP cycle. It supports both front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive setups.

Furthermore, the STLA Medium platform features a 400-Volt electric architecture that uses less than 14kWh per 100km. It can charge from 20% to 80% in 27 minutes at a rate of 2.4kWh per minute. The electric motors, which can deliver power between 218bhp and 388bhp, are compatible with this architecture.

With the generation change, the Compass will receive an electric powertrain along with mild-hybrid and PHEV options. These multiple powertrains will align with Jeep’s “Freedom of Choice” strategy, which aims to offer customers options to choose power and emission levels according to their requirements across the USA. According to a fresh media report, the Jeep Compass EV will make its world debut in November 2024, followed by its European launch in 2025. The new-generation model of the SUV isn’t coming to India as the project failed to meet commercial viability for the market.

Talking about Jeep India’s future plans, the American SUV manufacturer is planning to introduce a new-generation Jeep Renegade by 2027. However, the model is currently in its development stage. The SUV will be based on Citroen’s Common Modular Platform (CMP), which also underpins the C3 in India. It is too early to comment on its powertrain. However, media reports suggest that the upcoming Jeep SUV might be offered with the 1.2L, three-cylinder turbo petrol engine borrowed from the Citroen C3. Globally, it will also be available with an all-electric 4X4 option.

Measuring around 4.2 meters in length, the Jeep Renegade will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, and Maruti Grand Vitara. Its prices are likely to fall within the range of Rs 15 lakh – Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
