Here’s the first official image of the much-awaited Mahindra Thar Roxx, revealing its rugged front fascia. The lifestyle off-road SUV is set to debut on Independence Day (i.e., 15th August 2024). Notably, its front six-slat split grille differs from the 3-door Thar, which features a seven-slat unit. What further differentiates it from its 3-door sibling are the newly-designed LED projector headlamps and integrated C-shaped LED DRLs. However, the fog lamp clusters and indicators appear similar to those of the 3-door Thar.
The carmaker has already released a teaser video showcasing its key features, including a dashboard with contrasting copper stitching, a dual-tone (Black and White) theme, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, an automatic AC unit, and a Harman Kardon sound system. The Thar Roxx will also come equipped with features such as a wireless phone charger, front and rear center armrests, push-button start, ventilated front seats, and more.

Safety will be enhanced by Level 2 ADAS technology, a tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, hill hold and descent control, and six airbags. Similar to the XUV700’s ADAS suite, the Mahindra Thar Roxx will offer features such as an autonomous emergency braking system, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and more. As per the leaked information, the new Mahindra Thar Roxx will be offered with three powertrains: a 2.2L diesel (172bhp/370Nm), a 2.0L turbo petrol (160bhp/330Nm), and a 1.2L turbo petrol (175bhp/380Nm). Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. While the lower variants will feature an RWD setup, the higher trims will be offered with a 4WD drivetrain.

In terms of competition, the Thar Roxx will go up against the Force Gurkha 5-door and Maruti Jimny. Prices are expected to start around Rs 15 lakh. Official details of the new Mahindra off-road SUV will be revealed on 15th August. Stay tuned to IndiaCarNews.
