The Mahindra XUV 3XO (the heavily updated XUV 300 subcompact SUV) was introduced in late April 2024 with six engine and gearbox combinations. The range includes a 111bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol with a 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic, a 117bhp, 1.5L diesel with a 6-speed manual and AMT, and a 131bhp 1.2L DI turbo petrol with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Now, the carmaker is planning to bring the XUV 3XO with an electric powertrain in the coming months.
Recently, one of its test mules was caught on camera with heavy camouflage covering most of its design details. However, one can still notice its front grille and C-shaped LED DRLs. Unlike its ICE version, the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV will feature a slightly different front grille with a larger central air intake and badging, newly-designed alloy wheels, and a few EV-specific design elements. At the back, the EV will feature C-shaped taillamps and a registration plate placed on the tailgate.

The interior of the new Mahindra EV will be similar to its ICE-powered version, the XUV 3XO. The electric subcompact SUV will have a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, Adrenox connected car tech with built-in Alexa, push-button start/stop, dual-zone climate control, updated switchgear on the center console, a tire pressure monitoring system, auto headlamps and wipers, etc. In fact, its boot space will also be similar to the regular XUV 3XO, i.e., 257 liters. Compared to the Mahindra XUV400, which offers a boot space of 350 liters, it has a smaller cargo area.
Specifications of the upcoming Mahindra XUV 3XO are still under wraps. However, the electric subcompact SUV is expected to come with a 35kWh battery, which will essentially be a smaller capacity version of the XUV400 EV’s 40kWh battery pack. The electric motor and range details are not available at this point in time.
