The Tata Nexon model lineup, which already has a very comprehensive list of variants (over 40), will be further expanded with the addition of new diesel DCT automatic variants. At present, the diesel version of the subcompact SUV comes with an AMT gearbox option. As per the information available on Tata’s official website, the 7-speed DCA/DCT transmission could be exclusively offered with the top-end Fearless+ S Persona trim. No other changes are expected in the upcoming new Tata Nexon DCT automatic variants.
The subcompact SUV’s diesel version comes with a 1.5L motor, producing a maximum power of 115bhp and 260Nm of torque. Prices for the diesel automatic variants start from Rs 11.80 lakh and go up to Rs 15.80 lakh (all ex-showroom). The new diesel DCT variants are expected to be priced slightly higher than the existing AMT automatic variants. The official launch timeline of these models is yet to be revealed, though the new variants are expected to go on sale alongside the Curvv ICE-powered version on 2nd September 2024.
In other updates, the carmaker will soon introduce the Tata Nexon CNG with the 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine, making it India’s first CNG car to come with a turbocharged engine. However, it’s uncertain if the Nexon CNG will be offered with both AMT and manual gearbox options or only with a manual transmission. Once launched, the CNG version of Tata’s subcompact SUV will compete against the Maruti Brezza CNG.
Talking about the Tata Curvv ICE, the coupe SUV will come with an all-new 125bhp, 1.2L three-cylinder petrol engine, a 120bhp 1.2L turbo petrol engine, and a 118bhp 1.5L diesel engine. All three engines will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, along with an optional 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. The Curvv EV has been offered within the price range of Rs 17.49 lakh – Rs 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom). However, these prices are introductory and are expected to increase after a limited period.
