MG Windsor EV To Debut On 11th September – What All We Know

MG Motor India will unveil its third electric offering for India on 11th September 2024. Called the MG Windsor EV, the CUV (compact utility vehicle) is already sold as the Cloud EV in select global markets. The company has confirmed that its new EV will be priced under Rs 20 lakh. When launched, it won’t have any direct rivals in India. However, it will face competition from cars like the Mahindra XUV400 and Tata Nexon EV in terms of pricing.

Powertrain specifications of the new MG EV will be revealed at its official debut. However, it’s likely to come with 37.9kWh and 50.6kWh battery packs, similar to the Wuling Cloud EV. While the smaller battery pack delivers a claimed range of 360km, the larger battery version promises an electric range of 460km. The setup will also include a permanent magnet synchronous motor fitted at the front axle, delivering a maximum power of 134bhp.

Measuring around 4.3 metres in length, the MG Windsor EV is claimed to offer “the comfort of a sedan and the expanse of an SUV” along with advanced technology. It will have a 5-seat configuration and features such as a large floating touchscreen, faux leather seats with a large honeycomb pattern stitching, a rear centre armrest, rear AC vents, a three-passenger rear seat with dedicated three-point seat belts for all, and rear seats with a recline of up to 135 degrees.

In other updates, MG Motor India will give a mid-life update to the Gloster three-row SUV towards the end of this year. The SUV will receive minimal changes inside and out. Inside, there will be an all-black theme instead of tan upholstery, revised AC vents, a new centre console, and an updated dashboard. No changes will be made to its engine setup. The new 2024 MG Gloster facelift will continue to use the 2.0L diesel engine with both 4X2 and 4X4 drivetrain options.
