10 Big New Car Launches in the Coming Months – Tata, Kia, MG, Honda
The first half of 2024 has witnessed multiple major product launches from car manufacturers across segments, and the momentum doesn’t seem to be slowing down in the coming months. Over 10 new cars are slated to go on sale in India before the end of this year. Here’s a list of 10 major upcoming cars, along with details on what and when to expect them.
Tata Curvv ICE (2nd Sep) / Nexon CNG
The Tata Curvv EV, which recently went on sale, will soon be followed by its ICE (petrol/diesel) version. The carmaker will announce the Curvv ICE prices on 2nd September 2024. The SUV coupe’s petrol version will come with the all-new 125bhp, 1.2L, 3-cylinder direct injection turbo petrol and 120bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol engine options, while the diesel model will use the 118bhp, 1.5L diesel motor. After the Curvv ICE, the indigenous automaker will introduce the Tata Nexon CNG, featuring its dual-cylinder CNG technology. It will be the first CNG car in India to come with the 1.2L turbo petrol engine.
Updated Hyundai Alcazar – September
The 2024 Hyundai Alcazar facelift is scheduled to be launched in September, though its exact launch date is yet to be announced. The three-row SUV is likely to receive minor changes inside and out while retaining the existing engine setup – a 160bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol and a 116bhp, 1.5L diesel.
MG Windsor EV (11th Sep) / Gloster Facelift
The MG Windsor EV is set to make its India debut on 11th September 2024. The CUV is likely to be offered with 37.9kWh and 50.6kWh battery packs, offering a claimed range of 360km and 460km, respectively. The carmaker will also introduce the updated MG Gloster before the end of this year. The SUV, which is currently undergoing testing, is expected to receive minimal cosmetic changes and feature upgrades. No changes will be made under the hood.
Kia EV9 / New Carnival – 3rd October
The new-generation Kia Carnival and the brand’s flagship electric SUV, the EV9, will be unveiled on 3rd October. On the same day, the company will announce the prices of the EV9 electric SUV. Deliveries of both models might begin around the Diwali season. A few significant changes will be made to the all-new Carnival, but it will continue to use the 2.2L diesel engine. The Kia EV9 will come to India as a fully imported unit and is estimated to be priced around or above Rs 1 crore. Its specifications for the Indian market are yet to be revealed.
New-Gen Maruti Dzire – October
The new-generation Maruti Dzire is likely to go on sale in September or October 2024. The compact sedan will share its platform, design elements, features, and powertrain with the new Swift hatchback. This means the all-new Dzire will come with the Z-Series 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine and two gearbox options – a 5-speed manual and AMT. Major changes will be made to its exterior and interior.
New-Gen Honda Amaze – December
The new-generation Honda Amaze is expected to debut in December 2024, with its market launch likely to happen in January 2025. The compact sedan will borrow some of its design elements from Honda’s global sedans. Inside, it might receive a bigger touchscreen infotainment system, similar to the one seen in the Elevate. The all-new Amaze is likely to retain the existing 1.2L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with 5-speed manual and CVT automatic gearboxes.
Mahindra XUV e8
The Mahindra XUV e8, which will essentially be the electric iteration of the XUV700 SUV, is set to hit the market by December 2024. It will be the first production-ready Mahindra to underpin the brand’s born-electric INGLO skateboard platform. The SUV will come with an AWD configuration and battery packs ranging up to 80kWh. The power outputs of its powertrains will be between 230bhp and over 350bhp.
