Mahindra Thar Roxx prices will be announced tomorrow, on Independence Day – 15th August 2024. The Thar Roxx is essentially the 5-door or stretched version of the Thar 3-door off-road SUV. However, it will feature slightly different styling, more onboard features, advanced off-road capabilities, and an updated platform.
First talking about its engines, the Thar Roxx will source the 2.0L turbo petrol engine from the Scorpio N, tuned to two states – 160bhp with 330Nm for the entry-level variants and 175bhp with 380Nm for the higher trims. The diesel version will use the 2.2L turbo engine, which will also be borrowed from the Scorpio N. The 5-door Thar will be available with both 2WD and 4WD drivetrain options.
Besides powertrains, the new Thar Roxx will share the electronic locking differential, electronic brake locking differential, and multiple terrain modes (Mud, Sand, and Snow) with the Scorpio N. It also comes with CSA (Crawl Smart Assist) and Intelli Turn Assist features. Compared to the 3-door Thar, the SUV’s 5-door version boasts better approach, ramp-over, and departure angles. Its water wading capacity stands at 650mm. Read: Mahindra Soon Launch A Tata Nexon EV Rival SUV
In terms of features, the new Mahindra Thar Roxx will offer dual digital screens measuring 10.25 inches each (one functioning as an infotainment unit and the other as an instrument cluster). Additional features include a panoramic sunroof, leatherette seat upholstery, front and rear center armrests, push-button start, rear AC vents, Level 2 ADAS tech, a 360-degree camera, multiple airbags, and more.
While variant details and prices will be revealed tomorrow, the upcoming Mahindra Thar Roxx is reported to be available in more than six variants, starting with the W3. The off-road SUV is estimated to be priced as low as Rs 16 lakh for the base variant and up to Rs 20 lakh for the fully-loaded top trim. Unofficial bookings for the 5-door Thar are already underway.
