BSA Gold Star Launched at Rs 2.99 Lakh -Colors, Specs, Features

BSA Motorcycles, the British two-wheeler manufacturer, has finally entered the Indian market with the Gold Star motorcycle. The bike’s prices start at Rs 3 lakh, and it will be retailed via select Jawa/Yezdi dealerships nationwide. Interested buyers can pre-book the vehicle at authorized dealers.

The BSA Gold Star is being offered in six color schemes: Insignia Red and Highland Green (both priced at Rs 2.99 lakh), Midnight Black and Dawn Silver (priced at Rs 3.12 lakh), and Shadow Black (Rs 3.15 lakh). All mentioned prices are ex-showroom. At this price point, the Gold Star directly competes with the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.

For those unaware, BSA was acquired by Classic Legends Private Limited (CLPL), a subsidiary of the Mahindra Group. Recently, Classic Legends signed a 50:50 joint venture with Tube Investments of India Limited (part of the Murugappa Group) for BSA. The major highlight of this alliance is the use of the BSA Marks in India for bikes, components, and accessories manufactured and retailed by Classic Legends.

Powering the BSA Gold Star is a 652cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve, DOHC engine paired with a 5-speed gearbox. This liquid-cooled motor produces a peak power of 45bhp at 6,500rpm and 55Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. It’s claimed to offer a maximum speed of 160kmph. The bike’s suspension setup includes a conventional telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. Stopping power comes from single disc brakes at both the front and rear, along with standard dual-channel ABS.

In terms of features, the BSA Gold Star offers a twin-pod, semi-digital instrument cluster and a USB charger. Some of its design highlights include a circular headlamp, a tear-drop shaped fuel tank with chrome plates on its sides, a single-piece wide handlebar, spoked wheels with tubeless tires, and a flat, one-piece bench-type seat. The bike has a seat height of 782mm and a kerb weight of 201kg.
