“It is India’s dream that Olympics 2036 is held in the country, we are preparing for that,” said PM Modi.Prime Minister Modi, serving his third consecutive term, has shown a keen interest in bringing the Games to India, signaling the country’s growing influence internationally. According to an ET report, the bid is expected to gain substantial support from the Ambani family, one of India’s most influential. Nita Ambania member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 2016, has been vocally supportive of India’s Olympic aspirations.
India’s competitors in the 2036 Olympics bid:

  • Saudi Arabia and Qatar, two of Asia’s wealthiest nations, are also reportedly preparing bids for the 2036 Olympics.
  • With its rapidly growing economy and significant investments in sports infrastructure, Saudi Arabia is seen as a serious contender. Notably, the country has been aggressively pursuing the hosting of major international sporting events.
  • Qatar offers a compelling case, having successfully hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The successful organization of this large-scale event and its state-of-the-art facilities provide Qatar with a solid foundation for its Olympic bid.
