For many years, the Macherla constituency suffered in the iron fists of YSR Congress Senior Leader Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy. He has been winning there as an MLA since 2009 thanks to the faction politics and lack of a proper leader in TDP.

But things have changed completely in Macherla. People have defeated him with a whopping 33,000 Votes difference. Pinnelli himself got arrested in an EVM Damage Case.
Now, YSR Congress and Pinnelli are quickly losing grip on the constituency.

In the 2022 Municipal Elections, Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy threatened the opposition and saw no one contesting.
YSR Congress candidates were unanimously elected in all 31 wards of Macherla Municipality.

But things are quickly changing. TDP MLA Julakanti Brahmananda Reddy is slowly getting a grip on the constituency.
Councilors are joining the Telugu Desam Party one by one. Fourteen YSR Congress Councilors have already joined. The chairman and vice-chairman are also ready to join.
After their joining, the strength of TDP will reach Sixteen and the Municipality will become TDP’s.
Meanwhile, it’s been more than 50 days since the arrest of Pinnelli and all his efforts to get bail have failed. And there is a clear leadership crisis in the party in Macherla.
