Hijack incidents are not uncommon around the world. Thousands of innocent lives were lost in such cases and the resulting trauma still exists in the minds of those who were victims. One of them was the IC 814 hijack in 1999 which was intended for the release of Islamist terrorists imprisoned in India.

It was one of the longest hijacks with people being held hostage for around seven days and forcing India to release three terrorists. With the history of the incident still fresh in the minds of everyone, it is now getting a new adaptation through a TV show on Netflix, titled IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack.
