A recent teaser of the upcoming MG Windsor EV has confirmed the presence of a fixed panoramic glass roof, a feature usually offered in premium cars like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV. Unlike regular single or panoramic sunroofs, this type of roof cannot be opened. For your information, the Windsor is based on the Wuling Cloud EV, which is sold in select global markets. Interestingly, the Cloud EV does not come with a fixed panoramic glass roof.
The electric MPV will feature a dual-tone black and beige interior theme with amenities such as a large 15.6-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, electrically adjustable front seats, faux leather seats with a large honeycomb pattern stitching, rear AC vents, a rear center armrest, wireless phone charging, and rear seats that recline up to 135 degrees. Additionally, there will be an electric tailgate.
In terms of safety, the MG Windsor EV is likely to offer a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, an electronic parking brake, a three-passenger rear seat with dedicated three-point seat belts for all passengers, and six airbags. The electric MPV will come with a 5-seat configuration and measure around 4.3 meters in length. MG claims that the Windsor EV combines “the comfort of a sedan and the expanse of an SUV” with advanced technology.
Specifications of the MG Windsor EV are yet to be revealed, but it is expected to be available with two battery packs—37.9 kWh and 50.6 kWh—similar to the Wuling Cloud EV. These batteries offer a claimed range of 360 km and 460 km, respectively. The vehicle will also feature a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor delivering a peak power of 134 bhp.
MG Motor India has already confirmed that its upcoming electric CUV will be priced under Rs 20 lakh. In India, it won’t have any direct competition, though the Windsor EV will compete with EVs like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 EV.
