Nissan India will further expand its product portfolio with a new entry-level MPV that will be based on the Renault Triber. The model is likely to share some design elements with the Magnite subcompact SUV, yet it will look different from its donor cousin. In fact, most of its features, interior layout, and engine setup might also be carried over from the Magnite. Under the hood, the new Nissan compact MPV could employ a 1.0L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that’s claimed to deliver a maximum power of 71bhp and 96Nm of torque. The price of this 7-seater family car is estimated to start at around Rs 6 lakh.

Kia Carens EV

New Kia Carens facelift

Kia India is planning to introduce two new mass-marketaffordable electric vehicles (EVs) – the Carens EV and Syros EV. Both models are expected to hit the roads in the second half of 2025. With these mass-market EVs, the company expects to achieve combined sales of 50,000 – 60,000 units by 2026. The upcoming Kia Carens EV (codenamed KY-EV) is expected to be priced aggressively. However, details of the model are not available at this point in time.

Maruti Compact MPV/Toyota’s Version

New Maruti mini MPV

Maruti Suzuki is reported to introduce a new mini MPV based on the Japan-spec Spacia. It will be a sub-4 meter MPV that’s likely to come with the brand’s new Z-Series petrol engine, the same motor that powers the Swift hatchback. However, the gasoline unit could also be offered with Maruti Suzuki’s own strong hybrid system, which is currently under development. The brand’s new HEV powertrain will be used for its mass-market products, including the Fronx facelift, new-gen Baleno hatchback, Spacia-based mini MPV, and new-gen Swift. The new Maruti compact MPV might arrive in a couple of years, with an expected price starting at Rs 6 lakh. Toyota will also bring in the re-badged version of the new Maruti mini MPV in India.
