Malayalam actor Mammootty has reacted for the first time to the Hema Commission Report, which shook the Malayalam Film Industry and said that he wholeheartedly welcomes and supports the suggestions and solutions said in the report.
In a Facebook post, the actor said that he did not respond to the Hema Commission Report as it was not right for him to react before the Association (AMMA) and its leadership make any official statement.
The actor also said that there is no ‘power group’ in Malayalam cinema, as revealed by the report. Earlier, former AMMA president and Actor Mohanlal also denied the presence of ‘power group’ in cinema.
“There is no ‘power group’ in cinema. Cinema is not an arena where such things can exist,” said Mammootty.
The Malayalam superstar asked the filmmakers to be careful and vigilant so that nothing untoward happens in the film industry. He also said that the Justice Hema Committee was formed by the government to study the film industry and prepare a report to suggest solutions and recommend measures after something happened which should never have happened.
“I wholeheartedly welcome and support the recommendations and solutions said in the report. It is high time that all associations in the film industry join hands and implement them. The police investigation is proceeding on the complaints that have been raised,” said the actor in his post.
“The full version of the Justice Hema Committee report is before the court. Let the police investigate honestly. Let the court decide the punishments,” he further wrote.
Mammootty further added that the practical recommendations of the committee report should be implemented and necessary legislation should be enacted if there are legal hurdles.
