Tata Curvv (Petrol/Diesel) Launching Tomorrow -Price Expectations

The Tata Curvv ICE (internal combustion engine) version has already reached showrooms for customer preview ahead of its price announcement, which is scheduled for tomorrow, 2nd September 2024. The coupe SUV model lineup will be available across four trims: Smart, Pure, Creative, and Accomplished. While the variant-wise prices will be revealed in a few hours, we expect the starting price to be around Rs 9.50 lakh for the base petrol variant. The top-end diesel variant of the Curvv might cost as much as Rs 11.50 lakh to Rs 12 lakh.

If launched at this price point, the Curvv will directly compete against the newly launched Citroen Basalt. The latter is currently available within the price range of Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 13.83 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). However, it should be noted that the Basalt’s prices are introductory and applicable on bookings made until 31st October. The Curvv will also challenge midsize SUVs including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Honda Elevate.

Tata Curvv EV Range Test

The new Tata Curvv will be offered with three engine options: a 1.2L TGDi turbo petrol, a 1.2L turbo petrol, and a 1.5L diesel. The new TGDi gasoline motor produces a maximum power of 125PS and 225Nm of torque. It can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The 1.2L turbo petrol unit delivers 120PS and 170Nm, and comes with two transmission options – a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT. The diesel engine, which generates a top power of 118PS and 260Nm of torque, will also be available with the same gearbox options.

Compared to its arch-rival, the Basalt, the Tata Curvv is more powerful and torquier. Citroen’s coupe SUV is offered with 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.2L turbo petrol engines, making 82bhp with 115Nm and 110bhp with 190Nm (MT)/205Nm (AT), respectively. More details on its variant-wise features are explained here.
