Vijayawada: Five boats have been stuck up at Prakasam barrage in the early hours on Monday.
As Krishna river gets huge inflow of neary 11.37 lakh cusecs of water from upstream projects like Pulichintala and Nagarjuna Sagar and from local sources and the water resources authorities are discharging about 11.36 lakh cusecs of water from Prakasam barrage downstream into the sea, five sand boats have been washed away in the gushing waters and stuck up at the barrage.
With all 70 gates lifted up to their full capacity, a huge quantum of water is getting discharged through the gates downstream.
The water resources authorities are making efforts to find out any impact to the barrage following the development.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is visiting the flood hit Singh Nagar area to oversee the rescue and relief operations from the early hours of the day.
