Hi all!
So I ended up buying a 530d M sport 2015 from Delhi, got her inspected at Deutsche Motors, and drove her down to Bangalore last week. While I’ve written another post in the relevant thread (Delhi to Bangalore : Route Queries) on the drive and road conditions, I’ll mention a few things about the car here –
- The engine! Omg the smooth, buttery, powerful, and yet calm in the city, inline 6! Fallen in love from day 1.
- The transmission is one of the best I’ve experienced, but nothing new here that hasn’t already been covered by GTO and others.
- The interiors are amazing, and even as this is my first luxury car (still pinching myself to believe that own a BMW 530d!), the attention to detail across everything! That felt lining everywhere is luxury. Below is the first pic of my baby –
While I can keep going on and on about the car, I had 2 questions I could use help with from this amazing community –
1. Where can I source new tyres from in Bangalore? The car currently has non brand Chinese tyres which I will not use. I am looking for tubeless only, and while I can find the front 245/45 R18 in many places, not many have the rear size 275/40 R18. Everyone is trying to sell me Pirelli, but I have not heard good things about the same. Is there anywhere I can source Yokohama from? Their advan sport 105 that GTO got too, is not available, but it still remains my first preference.
If I can’t source Yokohama, where can I find Michelin? Madhus in Wilson Garden has Michelin PS5, but that is way more than what I wanna spend (43k per rear tyre and 30 per front tyre). Anyone who may keep other more affordable models?
I am looking to keep the staggered setup as recommended, tubeless, and all tyres of the same brand only. Recommendations welcome!
2. The sunroof lining has come offand BMW told me they can’t reattach it, so they will have to change the entire panel itself, for 42k + labour. I am looking to get the car fixed for some small issues, along with tyre change, WB and WA, at Carmed itself, and they also said they can’t use the same cloth itself. Would anyone have recommendations on where I can get the existing cloth reattached to the sunroof? It is not damaged at all, just come off, exposing the red rubber kind of material as you can see in the pic below.
While I wait for these minor changes and repairs, I can’t wait to start logging miles with this beauty!
