Upcoming Kia SUVs/MPVs In Coming Months

Kia India’s current product portfolio includes four models: the Sonet subcompact SUV, Seltos midsize SUV, Carens compact MPV, and EV6 electric crossover. In August 2024, the South Korean automaker sold a total of 22,523 units, registering a YoY growth of 17 percent. The company managed to sell 10,073 units of the Sonet, 6,536 units of the Seltos, 5,881 units of the Carens, and 33 units of the EV6.

Aiming to further boost its market presence, Kia has planned four new product launches for the coming months. While the new-generation Kia Carnival and EV9 electric SUV will go on sale on 3rd October, the updated Carens and an all-new sub-4-metre SUV are slated for launch in 2025.

The new-gen Carnival will feature a significantly updated design and interior, while the engine setup is likely to remain intact. The MPV will continue to use the 2.2L diesel engine. Its digital key will be updated with fingerprint recognition. There will also be dual 12.3-inch displays, a HUD, front and rear dash cameras, ambient lighting, a digital rearview mirror, and many more features.

The Kia EV9 will be the flagship offering from the South Korean automaker in India. Based on the born-electric e-GMP skateboard platform, the electric SUV will be a fully imported unit and is estimated to be priced over Rs 1 crore. Globally, the EV9 is offered with three powertrains: two single-motor RWD and one AWD with dual motors. Specifications of the India-spec version are yet to be revealed.

The new Kia Carens facelift is likely to arrive by mid-2025. The updated version of the MPV will share some design elements with the Sonet and Seltos. Minimal changes are expected inside the cabin, with possible new seat upholstery and color options. Rumor has it that the 2025 Kia Carens might also get an ADAS suite and a 360-degree camera. No changes will be made to its engine mechanism.

Kia’s new sub-4-metre SUV could be named ‘Clavis’ or ‘Syros’. Upon launch, it will be positioned against the Hyundai Exter and Tata Punch. The model will feature an upright stance with SUV-like design elements. Spy images reveal that the Kia Clavis or Kia Syros will have a large touchscreen infotainment system along with features such as a sunroof, ventilated seats, and a 360-degree camera. The new Kia subcompact SUV could be offered with both petrol and electric powertrains.
