Kerala: Congress Demands CM’s Resignation

Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress intensified its protests in Kerala as party workers took out a big march to the secretariat demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in the wake of grave accusations leveled by ruling front MLA P.V. Anvar against senior police officials in the state.

The Congress has been up in arms since Anvar made serious allegations against ADGP Law and Order M R Ajith Kumar, accusing him of phone tapping, associating with gold smuggling gangs, and involvement in murder cases. Additionally, he leveled grave accusations against the Chief Minister’s political secretary, P Sasi, alleging his support for police officers like Ajith Kumar who are purportedly engaged in various criminal activities.

Anvar met with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPM State Secretary M.V. Govindan, presenting separate memorandums to them, seeking action against the police officers.

During the opposition protest, PCC President K Sudhakaran strongly criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Home Department, stating that the Chief Minister has forfeited the moral authority to remain in office due to the unchecked activities of the mafia occurring right under his watch.

AICC General Secretary in charge of Kerala, Deepa Dasmunshi, stated that the Chief Minister is anxious as his governance is nearing its end. “Alarm bells are ringing,” she added. Meanwhile, Opposition Leader V D Satheeshan accused the Chief Minister of behaving like a coward, alleging that gold smuggling gangs and various nefarious individuals operate under the auspices of the Chief Minister’s office.

The chief minister lacks the courage to dismiss his political secretary and ADGP M R Ajith Kumar, as he is concerned they may reveal his misdeeds.

Despite facing serious allegations, Pinarayi Vijayan continues to hold office, reportedly with the support of the BJP-led central government. He has stated that the police have unleashed brutal attacks on peaceful agitators. “The police officers employing brute force should remember that no ‘uncle’ will be able to save them,” he remarked.
