Hyundai Motor India has expanded the Exter micro SUV lineup with two new trims equipped with a sunroof. The new Hyundai Exter S(O)+, positioned between the S(O) and SX, is priced at Rs 7.86 lakh. The S+ AMT variant, placed above the S AMT and below the SX, is priced at Rs 8.44 lakh. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom. With the introduction of these new trims, the sunroof becomes more affordable for Exter buyers who specifically seek that feature.

The Tata Altroz XM S, priced at Rs 7.45 lakh, is currently the most affordable car with a sunroof in the country. The Exter follows in second place, with its sunroof variants starting at Rs 7.86 lakh. Hyundai’s mini SUV was launched in July 2023 at a competitive price of Rs 5.99 lakh. Within the first year of its market arrival, the model achieved the milestone of one lakh sales. To celebrate the occasion, the carmaker introduced the Exter Knight Edition.
In other updates, the South Korean automaker has begun work on the Hyundai Exter EVwhich will compete with the Tata Tiago EV, Citroen eC3, and MG Comet EV. Speculation suggests that the electric version of the micro SUV could share its powertrain with the globally sold Hyundai Casper EV, which features a 40kWh battery pack. The Exter EV might offer a range of around 300km to 350km on a single charge.
Hyundai is also planning to introduce a mass-market EV in the next 12 to 24 months, based on the Exter EV. The carmaker’s Sriperumbudur facility will serve as the production hub for this new model. With the expansion of its EV product portfolio, the South Korean automaker aims for an annual output of around 90,000 units, including 26,000 units of the Creta EV and 65,000 units of the compact electric SUV. Hyundai Motor India has allocated Rs 20,000 crore for EV development, to be spent over the next eight years.
