We are all aware that Renault India is set to introduce the third-generation Renault Duster and a Duster-based three-row SUV in the coming years. The 5-seater version of the SUV is expected to arrive in the second half of 2025, followed by the 7-seater Duster. Interestingly, Nissan will also introduce derivatives of these two SUVs in India. The big news is that the Renault Duster-based 7-seater SUV (Dacia Bigster) will make its global debut in its production-ready form at the Paris Motor Show in October 2024.
Test mules of the new Renault three-row SUV have been spotted multiple times, revealing some intriguing details. Compared to the 5-seater Duster, the new Bigster SUV will be 300mm longer, measuring around 4.6 metres in length. Its wheelbase will also be extended, and the rear doors will be larger. The 7-seater Renault Duster will feature more onboard amenities and premium materials compared to its two-row sibling.
It’s too early to comment on the powertrains. However, some media reports suggest that the new Renault 7-seater SUV (Dacia Bigster) might be offered with two engine options: a 1.2L turbo petrol and a 1.6L turbo petrol. A hybrid powertrain could also be introduced at a later stage. Both 4X2 and 4X4 drivetrains will be available. The SUV will offer multiple terrain modes, including Eco, Auto, Sand, Snow/Mud, and Off-road.
The Renault-Nissan alliance had announced an investment of Rs 5,300 crore for the Indian market. This fund will be used for launching six new locally-produced modelswhich will be shared between both brands. The plan includes a C-segment SUV, a larger C-segment SUV, and A-segment EVs. While the new Duster and Duster 7-seater will be built on the CMF-B platform, the EV offerings will be based on the electric CMF-A architecture.
