He is owning an EV for the first time. And, that too now 2 EVs from popular OEMs.

While I was away in India for 3-weeks, my close pal did a ” Mass Car Replacement”
Replaced his Mercedes C300 with a Tesla Model 3 Base Model
Replaced his beautiful (I really liked it) Hyundai Sonata with an Audi Q8 e-Tron
I test drove the Audi Q8 e-Tron
Good
1. It’s a luxurious vehicle.
2. Quality of the interiors is top-notch
3. Feels spacious
Bad
1. Despite having a 355 HP power rating, it feels lethargic even in “S” mode
2. When you accelerate there is a sound that comes from the motor which is quite disconcerting and irritating. I note this sound from majority of EV makers (except Tesla)
3. I understand from him the range promised vs. range delivered is way less
Audi had a head start from a mainstream OEM’s perspective by being the early release of Audi Q8 as their flagship Electric SUV. Somewhere down the line, they botched it up and now considering shutting down this model entirely.
This does not say anything for the BMW or Mercedes of the world. They are having a hard time pushing their electric vehicles.
My pal is considering replacing his Volvo XC90 with a BMW i4 M50. I told him, he is making a mistake by going 100% EV. I told him to get the M3 or M4. I’m more selfish than him because all these cars will be always available for me to drive and enjoy.

I ask him which one he likes? ” He says – Tesla is another level- No comparison”.
