Lower Decks Clip Shows Tendi’s Return to Piracy

Good news: Star Trek: Lower Decks is coming back pretty soon! Bad news, it’ll be our last season with the Cerritos crew. But if the clip below is any indication, it looks like the show will go out as it first came into the world: chaotic and funny as hell.

Last season ended with Tendi choosing to stay with her family on Orion, and in the time since then, she’s back to what she’s best at: being a space pirate. As the Mistress of the Winter Constellations, going back to the old her has been pretty good, though she’s still not as actively bloodthirsty as the rest of her crew. Eventually, Tendi’s going to be pulled into a war on Orion, which will eventually draw the attention of the Enterprse, and the Cerritos in particular. But her former Lower Deckers have some challenges of their own, like dealing with subspace rifts, Klingons, and murder mysteries. Oh, and figuring out what to do as they move up the ranks into bigger positions among Starfleet.

Today is September 8, which also marks Star Trek’s 68th birthday. To celebrate, Paramount’s gone and made the franchise’s TV premieres free to watch. Along with Decks, viewers can watch the pilot episodes for nearly every Star Trek show from Original Series to Strange New Worlds (sorry, Prodigy fans) on YouTube, Paramount+ (in the US), and partner platforms at no charge until Friday, September 13. (For shows with two-part premieres like Voyager and Next Generation, both halves are free.) There’s also a selection of Short Treks episodes–“Runaway,” “Ephraim & Dot,” “The Girl Who Made the Stars,” ” Ask Not,” and “The Trouble With Edward”–that’s also free to watch during that same one-week.

As for Star Trek: Lower Decks, it returns to Paramount+ with two episodes on October 24. Peep the poster below, which continues the show’s tradition of homaging posters from the original movies.
