BYD eMax 7 Electric MPV Coming Soon – e6 Replacement

BYD India has confirmed that the eMax 7 electric MPV will succeed the BYD e6 in the country. It’s essentially a facelifted version of the e6, featuring improved design and more features. Its market launch is imminent; however, the exact launch date has not yet been announced. Once launched, the BYD eMax 7 won’t have any direct rivals in India, and its price is expected to be similar to the e6, which costs Rs 29.15 lakh (ex-showroom).

The official teaser reveals the MPV’s silhouette, offering a glimpse of its slightly updated headlamp and taillamp assemblies, as well as its revised front and rear bumpers. Similar to the BYD M6 (sold in Indonesia), the eMax 7 will have significant chrome detailing on both the front and rear profiles. Minor updates will also be made to its interior.

The new BYD eMax 7 will feature a 12.8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the previous 10.1-inch unit. The center console, which will receive slight revisions, will include a new drive selector lever, updated switchgear, and two wireless charging pads. The MPV will also feature a new steering wheel. However, the dashboard design, instrument cluster, and the rest of the features will remain unchanged. It will offer a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, an electric tailgate, and many other features.

In select global markets, the BYD eMax 7 is available with 55.4kWh and 71.8kWh battery packs. While the former provides a range of 420 km, the latter offers a range of 530 km on a single charge. Both batteries are paired with a single electric motor, delivering 161bhp and 310Nm of torque with the smaller 55.4kWh battery, and 201bhp and 310Nm with the larger 71.8kWh battery. In India, the electric MPV is likely to retain the 71.8kWh battery from the e6.
