What’s the Next Launch From Hyundai?

Hyundai Motor India recently launched the updated Alcazar with a few cosmetic changes and feature upgrades, starting at a price of Rs 14.99 lakh. The SUV model lineup offers 6- and 7-seat configurations, with both petrol and diesel engine options. In its segment, the new 2024 Hyundai Alcazar facelift continues to compete with the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, and MG Hector Plus.

Following the new Alcazar, Hyundai’s first electric offering – the Creta EV – is set to launch. The model will enter production by the end of this year and is expected to make its public debut in the first month of 2025. Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming eVX, also scheduled for early 2025, will be a major rival to the Hyundai Creta EV. It will also compete with the Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV. The Creta EV will be the first mass-market EV from the South Korean automaker in India.

Specifications of the Hyundai Creta EV are still under wraps. However, reports suggest that the electric SUV will feature a 45kWh battery pack and an electric motor sourced from the globally sold new-generation Kona EV. It is likely to have a front-mounted e-motor delivering 138bhp and 255Nm of torque. Earlier this year, Hyundai and Kia entered into a strategic partnership with Exide Energy as part of their EV expansion plans. Under this joint venture, both automakers will localize their EV battery production, with a special focus on LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) cells. These localized batteries will be used in Hyundai and Kia’s future EV product lineup.

As for the Hyundai Creta EV, the electric SUV will feature a closed-off front grille, revised front and rear bumpers, and new alloy wheels. The rest of its design elements will be similar to the ICE-powered Creta. Inside, the EV will feature a new three-spoke steering wheel, a redesigned center console, and Hyundai’s Level 2 ADAS suite.
