India will have the chance to enjoy the supermoon, also known as the Harvest Moon. The supermoon will be visible in New Delhi at 8:04 am on September 18, according to Time and Date. According to NASA, the full moon will be visible from Monday evening through Thursday evening, providing a three-day window to appreciate its full, bright appearance.

No lunar eclipse visibility in country

For sky-gazers in India, however, the partial lunar eclipse will not be visible. The moon will be below the horizon during the eclipse, making it impossible for residents in major cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai to view this phenomenon.

Timing of lunar eclipse in India

While the lunar eclipse itself will be out of reach, it will occur during the night of September 17-18. The maximum eclipse would be at 8:48 am on September 18 in India, but, as noted, this will not be observable due to the moon’s position below the horizon.
