Vijayawada: Union minister of state for heavy industries and steel Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma assured the Centre’s support for development of food processing industry in Andhra Pradesh. Speaking at a programme held at Pamarru in Krishna district on Thursday, the minister said the Centre was providing thousands of crores of rupees in subsidy to promote food processing units. He also praised the PM for promoting the aqua industry in a big way.
In a separate programme held in Vijayawada, the minister took part in the review meeting with the railway officials. Vijayawada divisional railway manager Narendra A. Patil briefed the Union minister on several railway projects. The meeting focused on the current status of the new Kotipalli-Narsapur railway line.
The officials also briefed the minister on works related to the construction of bridges and on the pending land acquisition issues as the AP government had to do it in several stretches of the Amalapuram-Narasapur areas. Later, the Union minister directed the railway officials to expedite the construction of road-over-bridges (RoBs) and railway-under-bridges (RuBs) and took stock of the progress of Amrit Bharat Station works and passenger amenities.
