Kia EV9, the flagship electric SUV from the South Korean automaker, is set to hit Indian roads on 3rd October, alongside the new Carnival luxury MPV. Prior to its market arrival, the model’s specifications have been revealed online. According to the leaked information, the India-spec EV9 will feature a 99.8kWh battery pack and two electric motors, delivering a combined power output of 384PS and 700Nm of torque. The new Kia electric SUV will offer a range of over 500km on a full charge.
The SUV’s battery pack can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes using a 350kW DC fast charger. It will come with an AWD (all-wheel drive) system and support the V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) function. The EV9’s main rivals in India, the BMW iX and Mercedes-Benz EQE, feature battery packs of 111.5kWh and 90.56kWh, offering ranges of 575km and 550km, respectively.
The overall length, width, and height of the Kia EV9 are 5010mm, 1980mm, and 1755mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 3100mm. In terms of design, the electric SUV has a futuristic appearance, featuring a closed-off grille with digital pattern lighting, vertically stacked headlamps, and LED DRLs with star map lighting. The model underpins the e-GMP skateboard platform and is expected to be available in both 6- and 7-seat configurations.
Being a flagship product, the Kia EV9 comes packed with several advanced features, including a dual 12.3-inch screen setup with a 5.3-inch climate control display positioned between the infotainment unit and the instrument cluster. It boasts dual-tone white and black leatherette seat upholstery and captain seats in the middle row, which come with 8-way power adjustment and a massage function. Passengers in the first and second rows benefit from individual sunroofs, relaxation features, and leg support.
The EV9 is equipped with a Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) suite, offering safety features such as lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and more.
