Considering the tremendous growth of the SUV market, Honda Cars India aims to expand its SUV product portfolio with four new models by 2030. The plan includes a new compact SUV, the Elevate EV, a three-row SUV, and one more undisclosed model. The carmaker is also developing an all-new modular platform (codenamed PF2) for its upcoming model lineup, supporting both electric and ICE powertrains. In addition to the expansion plan, Honda will give a generational update to the Amaze subcompact sedan and City sedan in 2025 and 2028, respectively.
The new Honda Amaze is set to be the next major product launch from the Japanese automaker in India. The compact sedan’s third-generation model will debut in December 2024, with its market launch slated for early 2025. Recently, its first spy images surfaced, revealing a few design details. The original silhouette and stance will remain largely intact, with most design changes expected at the front end.
The latest spy images suggest that the compact sedan could be equipped with a reverse parking camera. Like the City, it might feature three fixed headrests for rear passengers. The touchscreen infotainment unit will be larger than the current one and will support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
In terms of power, the new Honda Amaze will continue with the existing 1.2L, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine, paired with a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox, delivers a maximum power of 90bhp and 110Nm of torque. A CNG fuel option may be introduced at a later stage.
The new-gen Amaze will face competition from the next-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which is set to launch in the coming months. The current generation of the Amaze is priced between Rs 7.20 lakh and Rs 9.96 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and a slight price increase is expected with the upcoming update.
