Thangalaan, starring Vikram in the lead and directed by Pa Ranjith, was released in theatres on August 15th and has acquired mixed responses from audiences and critics.

Because of the mixed responses, Thangalaan has dipped in its theatrical run after the first week. Demonte Colony-2, which clashed with this movie, was a tremendous success and thrashed Thangalaan after the first week.
But Thangalaan producers were claiming that this movie was a blockbuster success and has collected more than 100 crores in the box office collections; even they released a 100 crore poster for this movie.

In this scenario, recently producer Gnanavel Raja, who has produced this movie, mentioned in an interview that Thangalaan’s Hindi version, which was released on September 6, was a huge success, and after a few days even the screen counts were increased.
Also mentioned is that Thangalaan was a tremendous success, and many people appreciated this movie a lot. But in reality, this movie didn’t even fulfil the expectations of the Tamil audiences. Also, after the Hindi version, some of them appreciated this movie, but that too for Vikram’s hard work.
