Upgraded to Mitsuba Trumpet horns on my Toyota Fortuner

Connectors supplied in Fortuner are straight conventional type unlike the other vehicles where they have special connectors which fits to specific horn only.

Rahul Lal recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Fortuner Legender comes with Roots make disc horns having rating of 3 amp each as OEM fitment. However I was interested in replacing them with trumpet horns.

Though lot of options are available in market but couple of points were required to be kept in mind while deciding the replacement horns. The horns should have connector pins facing inwards as in OEM horns, so that no modification is required in the harness to connect the horns. Also amperage should be around the same as of the horns supplied by the manufacturer so that present relay & fuse need not have to be replaced.

On amazon jp bought Mitsuba Alpha II Compact trumpet horns. These horns are made in Japan & quite popular there. Sound is quite pleasant and reasonably loud. They are of 480/400 Hz with a rating of 4 amp each.

Installation is quite simple. Connectors supplied in Fortuner are straight conventional type unlike the other vehicles where they have special connectors which fits to specific horn only. So in this case any horn having straight pins can be connected.
