The EV (electric vehicle) segment has witnessed steady growth over the years, thanks to new product offerings, updated EV policies, and the development of supporting infrastructure. Recently, there have been some promising new product launches from OEMs such as Tata and MG. BYD and Kia are also gearing up to introduce their next EV models – eMax 7 and EV9 – ahead of the upcoming festive season. If you’re planning to buy a new EV, here are four all-new options you can consider:

Tata Curvv EV

Launched in August 2024, the Tata Curvv EV is priced between Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 21.99 lakh. The model lineup is available in five trims – Creative, Accomplished, Accomplished+ S, Empowered+, and Empowered+ A – and two battery options: 45kWh and 55kWh, paired with a 167bhp electric motor. The smaller battery pack offers an MIDC range of 502 km, while the larger battery provides a claimed range of 585 km on a full charge. The carmaker states that the Curvv EV’s battery can be charged to deliver up to 150 km of range in 15 minutes, and from 10 to 80 percent in 40 minutes using a 70kWh charger. It supports both V2L and V2V charging functionalities.

MG Windsor EV

Prices for the MG Windsor EV were announced just a few weeks ago. The carmaker has confirmed that bookings will start on 3rd October, with deliveries beginning on 12th October. The Windsor EV is available in three trims – Excite, Exclusive, and Essence – and four colors: Pearl White, Starburst Black, Clay Beige, and Turquoise Green. Its powertrain includes a 38kWh LFP battery with prismatic cells, offering a range of 331 km. The EV offers four driving modes: Eco, Eco+, Normal, and Sport. You have three charging options with the Windsor EV – a 3.3kW charger, a 7.7kW AC charger, and a 45kW fast charger.

eMax 7 WORLD

WORLD eMax 7 Range

The BYD eMax 7 electric MPV is also a strong option for the upcoming festive season. Bookings have already commenced nationwide with a deposit of Rs 51,000, and prices are set to be announced on 8th October 2024. It’s essentially a heavily updated version of the e6, featuring improved styling, more features, and enhanced technology. The eMax 7 will offer a three-row seating arrangement, leatherette upholstery, a panoramic glass roof, and an ADAS suite. In India, it’s expected to come with a 71.8kWh battery, providing a range of 530 km. With an estimated price range of Rs 30 lakh – Rs 33 lakh, the BYD eMax 7 will compete with models like the Toyota Innova Hycross and Maruti Suzuki Invicto.

Kia EV9

Kia EV9 India Launch Date

The Kia EV9 is set to launch in India on 3rd October, alongside the new Carnival luxury MPV. In India, it will be offered exclusively in the top-end GT-Line AWD trim, with an estimated price of over Rs 1 crore. Kia has confirmed that the EV9 will come with a 99.8kWh battery pack and a dual electric motor setup. The electric SUV will feature an AWD drivetrain and offer an ARAI-certified range of 561 km on a single charge. Its electric motors deliver a maximum power output of 384 bhp and 700 Nm of torque. The EV9 GT-Line trim will come standard with a 6-seat layout.
