My Mahindra XUV700 gets its first OTA software update: What’s new

What3Words app was initially introduced with the Mahindra Scorpio N and is now available for the XUV700 owners.

BHPian rudra_shiv recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Mahindra Delivers Long-Awaited OTA Update for XUV700

After a two-year wait and a recent renewal of the AdrenoX subscription, Mahindra has finally introduced Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates for the XUV700. This significant development eliminates the need for customers to visit authorized service centers for software upgrades.

While the OTA feature was initially delayed, it is commendable that Mahindra has implemented it at this time. The update process, however, encountered some minor hiccups. Despite having the Auto-Download feature enabled, the software update did not initiate automatically. Manual intervention was required to trigger the download.

I urged to make the move for downloading this with the intention that it will reduce the frequent disconnection of CarPlay, that “dub-dub” speaker sounds after turning off the vehicle and sudden increase in ringtone volume when you receive a call while driving with CarPlay (well, would not it be really scary to hear your ringtone at the volume of 20 when you are hearing an Ilaiyaraja’s song at the volume of 8 or 9?)

Made a quick video on the process, hoping this would help/guide the Bhpians and fellow 700 owners in updating their Infotainment Units.

What is new with the update:

  • This update flashes the new SW for the TCU (Telematics Control Unit), SoC (Qualcomm 430 or 820A), VIP (Vehicle Interface Processor)
  • New App Additions: Two apps have been added to the XUV700’s infotainment system: a) Ask Mahindra: This convenient feature allows you to connect directly with Mahindra customer support for any inquiries or assistance. b) What3Words: A unique geocoding system that provides precise location identification using three simple words. This app was initially introduced with the Mahindra Scorpio N and is now available for XUV700 owners. Not sure about the real-time need & usability part of this app. I will explore more about this.
  • Looks like some updates given to Mappls, did not have time to explore much about it.

Side Note:

To ensure a smooth installation process, please keep the following points in mind:

  • Running Engine: The engine should be running during the software update to maintain power supply.
  • Fuel Level: Ensure your vehicle has sufficient fuel to avoid interruptions during the update.
  • Time Allocation: Plan for at least an hour of downtime to allow for a complete and uninterrupted installation.

I hope this helps fellow riders in updating the SW package.
