Skoda Kylaq Takes Final Shape – Brezza, Nexon Fighter

Skoda Kylaq, the upcoming sub-4-metre SUV from the Czech automaker, is all set to make its global debut in India on 6th November 2024. It will be Skoda’s third model to be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform and the first to come under the brand’s India 2.5 strategy. Upon its launch, it will face competition from cars like the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV 3OO.

Recently, a heavily camouflaged, production-ready version was spotted, revealing some design details, including the alloy wheels, roof rails, and window glass. The initial official teasers and sketches confirm that the Kylaq compact SUV will be the first Skoda to feature its ‘Modern Solid’ design language with an SUV-ish stance.

At the front, it will feature a wide, familiar grille with vertical slats, headlamps with a split setup, LED DRLs, and an upright bonnet above it. The side profile will be highlighted by thick C-pillars, 16-inch alloy wheels, faux roof rails, and side body cladding. Compared to the Kushaq, it will have shorter front and rear overhangs. The interior of the new Skoda Kylaq is likely to share a strong resemblance with the Kushaq. In terms of features, it could offer a 360-degree camera, a sunroof, and an ADAS suite.

Under the hood, the new Skoda compact SUV is expected to be powered by a 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine, producing 115bhp and 178Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
