Actor Rajinikanth was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai during the late hours of Monday, it is learnt. Although there has been no official confirmation about the same from the hospital or team Rajinikanth, it is learnt that the actor has an elective procedure scheduled for Tuesday. Hospital sources said the the 73-year-old superstar, who reportedly complained of stomach pain, was stable.
Official details about the health status of Rajinikanth and the planned procedure at the hospital are awaited.
In late 2020, a similar health scare had resulted in Rajinikanth abandoning plans to start his long-awaited political career. He had announced the political party in December 2020 only to revoke the plan in the same month citing health reasons and the pandemic.
Rajinikanth is currently busy with the shooting of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie. Earlier on Monday, he met veteran filmmakers SP Muthuraman and AVM Saravanan, and the photos of this meeting had gone viral on social media.
Meanwhile, Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth’s maiden collaboration with Jai Bhim director TJ Gnanavel, is set to hit the screens on October 10. Backed by Lyca Productions, the film, which also stars Amitabh BachchanFahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh and Dushara Vijayan, has music by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography by SR Kathir.
