We have fantastic news for Samsung and Chromebook fans. The rumored Galaxy Chromebook Plus is finally official, and we’re looking at the thinnest and lightest device of its kind to have ever been released.
Samsung’s new Galaxy Chromebook Plus sports a large 15.6-inch OLED display rated for 400 nits of brightness. The device boasts an Intel Core 3 100U (Raptor Lake-R) CPU and 8GB of RAM alongside 256GB of storage.
Even though that doesn’t match the power of Galaxy Book laptops running Windows OS, the Galaxy Chromebook Plus — like all other Chromebooks — is centered around Google’s cloud-based applications. This lightweight device should have plenty of horsepower to handle those.
The Galaxy Chromebook Plus is very thin, measuring 11.8mm, and very light, tipping the scales at 1.17 kg. In fact, this is the lightest and slimmest Chromebook Plus to ever hit the market.
Underneath its thin shell, the new Samsung Chromebook conceals a battery that should offer a runtime of up to 13 hours on a full charge. The keyboard is even big enough to feature a number pad. It also holds another surprise fit for the new AI mobile era.
Entering the AI era with a dedicated button
Similar to Samsung’s new keyboards for the Galaxy Tab S10 series, the Galaxy Chromebook Plus sports a slightly redesigned keyboard with quick AI access in mind. The new Chromebook keyboard layout replaces the Launcher key with a new Quick Insert button.
This Quick Insert key enables convenient access to the latest AI-centric ChromeOS and Google features, including Gemini AI, but also emojis, and more. Other new ChromeOS goodies you will find on the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus include Focus, Welcome Recap, and Live Translate.
Availability and pricing details after the video
Samsung’s thin and light Galaxy Chromebook Plus will be available later this month. It will hit the shelves in the USA for $699 and select European markets for €799.
