Kia has announced the price of the EV9 for India today. The brand’s flagship offering comes in a single, fully-loaded GT-Line variant priced at Rs 1.3 crore (ex-showroom). At this price point, the EV9 electric SUV competes with the Mercedes EQS, Audi Q8 e-tron, and BMW iX, which are priced at Rs 1.62 crore, Rs 1.15 crore – Rs 1.27 crore, and Rs 1.40 crore, respectively.
The EV9’s powertrain setup includes a 99.8kWh battery pack and two electric motors with an AWD (all-wheel drive) system. The electric motors deliver a maximum power of 384 bhp and 700 Nm of torque. The electric SUV is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and offers an ARAI-certified range of 561 km on a full charge. The SUV’s battery pack takes 24 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% using a 350kW DC fast charger.
In terms of features, the Kia EV9 is a well-equipped electric machine. It has a dual-tone Brown and Black interior theme with a 6-seat layout. The second-row passengers get electrically adjustable captain seats with adjustable leg support and a massage function. The electric SUV features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional features include a 14-speaker Meridian audio system, the latest version of Kia Connect connected car tech, a head-up display (HUD), three-zone climate control, a digital IRVM, dual electric sunroofs, 6 USB Type-C ports, roof AC vents for the second and third-row seats, and a 4-spoke leatherette steering wheel. The new Kia electric SUV comes with 20 standard safety features, including ABS, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, 10 airbags, downhill brake control, brake assist, vehicle stability management, an emergency stop signal, front, side, and rear parking sensors, all-wheel disc brakes, 3-point seat belts and reminders for all seats, speed-sensing door locks, and impact-sensing door unlock.
In addition to this standard safety kit, the EV9 offers a Level 2 ADAS suite with 27 autonomous features such as forward collision warning, forward collision avoidance assist, parking collision avoidance assist, blind-spot collision warning, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision warning, high beam assist, safe exit assist, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-following assist, a 360-degree camera, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, and a blind-view monitor.
