Arshdeep Singh, who debuted for India in 2022, has firmly established himself in India’s lineup in the T20I format. Renowned for his outstanding abilities as a left-arm pacer, Arshdeep has consistently delivered pivotal breakthroughs for the Indian team. His performances have attracted significant attention as he continues to hone his skills in the shortest format.
In the ongoing series against Bangladesh, Arshdeep is on the verge of reaching a notable milestone in his career.
Arshdeep Singh could potentially become India’s second-highest T20I wicket-taker by the conclusion of the India vs Bangladesh series.
After the first T20I against Bangladesh, he is poised to surpass two of India’s legendary bowlers in the T20I wicket-taking charts.
With a three-wicket haul in the first T20I in Gwalior, Arshdeep has now taken 86 wickets, at an impressive average of 18.26.
If he maintains his current form, he could soon eclipse Jasprit Bumrah, who has taken 89 wickets in 70 T20Is, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has 90 wickets from 87 T20Is.
Yuzvendra Chahal leads the T20I wicket-taking charts among Indian bowlers with 96 wickets in 80 matches. Interestingly, all of India’s top five highest T20I wicket-takers are still active.
As the team aims to clinch the series against Bangladesh, all eyes will be on Arshdeep to see if he can surpass these modern-day greats.
Currently fifth among India’s highest T20I wicket-takers, he trails his teammate Hardik Pandya, who has 87 wickets.
India’s next two matches are scheduled to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi (9 October) and Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad (12 October).
