BYD recently launched the eMax 7, the successor to the e6 electric MPV, in India. Deliveries are expected to begin in the coming days. This new three-row MPV directly competes with the Toyota Innova Hycross Hybrid, which is priced between Rs 25.97 lakh and Rs 30.98 lakh. Compared to its predecessor, the eMax 7 offers better styling, a more upmarket interior, and enhanced powertrain options. Let’s take a look at the key updates that differentiate the BYD eMax 7 from the BYD e6.

BYD eMax 7 Vs BYD e6: Pricing & Variants
The new eMax 7 is available in two variants – Premium and Superior, while the e6 (offered only with a 5-seat layout) came in a single variant priced at Rs 29.15 lakh. The eMax 7’s Premium trim, featuring a smaller 55.5kWh battery, is priced at Rs 26.90 lakh for the 6-seater and Rs 27.50 lakh for the 7-seater. The Superior variant, equipped with a larger 77.8kWh battery pack, costs Rs 29.30 lakh for the 6-seater and Rs 29.90 lakh for the 7-seater. Both trims are available with 6- and 7-seat configurations. Despite being a more refined and feature-packed product, the BYD eMax 7 is priced similarly to the e6.
BYD eMax7 Vs BYD e6: Design
Visually, the BYD eMax 7 is more stylish than the e6, though it retains the original silhouette. Most of the design changes are concentrated on the front and rear profiles. The eMax 7 features a more pronounced front grille, headlamps with new LED internals, and a revised bumper, all of which distinguish its front fascia. Apart from newly-designed 18-inch alloy wheels, the side profile remains largely similar to the e6. At the rear, the eMax 7 sports a slightly tweaked bumper and connected taillamps.

BYD eMax 7 Vs BYD e6: Interior & Features
The BYD eMax 7 offers a more premium interior, featuring a new three-spoke steering wheel with a dark trim and piano black finish, along with a revised dashboard and center console that includes a wireless phone charger. Unlike the BYD e6, which was available only in a 5-seat configuration, the eMax 7 comes with both 6- and 7-seat layout options. It also has a larger 12.8-inch rotating central touchscreen infotainment system with additional features, including wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, powered and ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass roof, six airbags, Level 2 ADAS, front and rear disc brakes, and a 360-degree camera system.
BYD eMax7 Vs BYD e6: Powertrain & Range
The BYD e6 5-seater electric MPV was offered with a 71.7kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, powering an electric motor that delivered a maximum output of 95bhp and 180Nm of torque. It was claimed to offer a range of 415km (WLTC tested) and 520km (WLTC city cycle) and could reach a top speed of 130kmph.
In contrast, the new BYD eMax7 is available with two battery options: 71.8kWh and 55.4kWh. The larger battery offers a range of 530km (NEDC), while the smaller battery delivers 420km on a full charge. The power output for the Premium and Superior variants stands at 163bhp and 204bhp, respectively. BYD claims the new eMax 7 can achieve a top speed of 180kmph.
