Renault Bigster SUV Revealed – Top 5 Highlights

The Dacia Bigster (Renault Bigster) has finally been revealed in its final production version ahead of its first public appearance at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. Why is this relevant for India? Because the same model is expected to arrive here as a 7-seater Duster SUV. It will launch after the third-generation Renault Duster (5-seater)which is slated to go on sale in the second half of 2025.

The Bigster, which is based on the Duster, is a three-row SUV measuring 4.57 meters in length, 1.81 meters in width, and 1.71 meters in height. It has a wheelbase of 2.7 meters and 220mm of ground clearance. With an extra 230mm in length and a 43mm longer wheelbase than the Duster, it appears significantly larger and offers more cabin space.

The production version remains true to its concept. Up front, it features a large signature grille with a glossy black finish, the Dacia logo placed in the center, LED headlamps with a Y-shaped light signature, and a raised bonnet. The side profile is characterized by pronounced wheel arches, thick plastic body cladding, and roof rails. In global markets, the SUV will be offered with dual-tone alloy wheels ranging between 17 and 19 inches. At the rear, it sports a sporty bumper and LED taillamps with a Y-shaped light signature, similar to the front.

Official interior images confirm that the Dacia Bigster (Renault Bigster) is a 5-seater SUV with a boot space of 667 liters. It is equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and AC vents with Y-shaped motifs. In terms of features, the Bigster offers dual-zone climate control, a powered driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof, an Arkamys audio system, wireless phone charging, and a powered tailgate. The ADAS suite is included as a standard feature.

Globally, the Dacia Bigster (Renault Bigster) will be available with three powertrain options – mild hybrid petrol, strong hybrid, and LPG. The strong hybrid version will feature a 1.4kWh battery pack, a 50bhp dual electric motor, and a 107bhp 4-cylinder petrol engine. The petrol motor will be paired with a 4-speed automatic gearbox, while the electric motors will have a 6-speed transmission.

The mild hybrid Bigster will come with a 140bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol engine paired with a 48V setup and a 6-speed manual gearbox. The SUV will be offered with FWD (standard) and AWD (optional), and five driving modes – Eco, Normal, Snow, Mud/Sand, and Off-road, along with hill descent control.

The LPG version will feature a 1.2L mild hybrid turbo petrol setup that can run on both LPG and petrol. With a 50-liter petrol tank and a 49-liter LPG capacity, the SUV can cover a range of up to 1,450km. Its power output is rated at 140bhp.
