Royal Enfield Electric Bike Unveiling On 4th November

Royal Enfield’s electric bike is all set to debut on 4th November, followed by its first public appearance at the 2024 EICMA show. It will be the first electric offering from the Chennai-based bikemaker, based on the brand’s all-new ‘L’ platform. This architecture, co-developed by Royal Enfield and Stark Future SL (a Spanish EV two-wheeler manufacturer), will also underpin future Royal Enfield motorcycles. Codenamed Electrik01, the Royal Enfield electric bike might witness a market launch sometime after its official unveiling.

We have already seen the leaked patent image of the upcoming Royal Enfield electric bike, revealing its final silhouette and neo-retro design. It features a circular headlight and mirrors, a distinctive fuel tank, a girder fork placed between girder arms and under a triple clamp, and a braced swingarm. The patent image also shows its alloy wheels and retro-styled hardtail-like rear profile. The electric bike will also have the Himalayan 450-inspired instrument cluster.

The official specifications of the RE electric bike are still under wraps. What we do know is that its battery will have cooling fins to disperse heat efficiently, and power will be delivered to the rear wheels via a belt drive.

Royal Enfield’s first electric bike will be aimed at premium motorcycle buyers. For its EV, the company aims to achieve a production capacity of 1.5 lakh units annually. RE’s new Cheyyar, Chennai-based manufacturing plant will serve as the production hub for the electric motorcycle. Royal Enfield will invest around Rs 1,000 crore for the development of its future products and to set up the sales infrastructure for electric bikes.

In terms of pricing, the RE electric bike is expected to cost around Rs 2.5 lakh, ex-showroom. Once launched, it will compete against the Ultraviolette F77. Official details of the EV will be revealed in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to IndiaCarNews.
