Tata Motors’ three popular SUVs – Nexon, Curvv, and Curvv EV – were recently subjected to the Bharat NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) crash tests. Staying true to the brand’s safety commitment, all three SUVs received a 5-star safety rating in both adult and child occupant protection. Here’s a brief on their NCAP performance.

The newly-launched Tata Curvv scored 29.50 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection and 43.66 points out of 49 in child occupant protection. In the frontal offset deformable crash test, it offered good protection for the driver’s and passenger’s head, chest, and neck. With a score of 14.65 points out of 16, the coupe SUV provided marginal protection for the driver’s left leg.

Protection for the driver’s head and abdomen was rated as good, while chest protection was rated as adequate in the side movable barrier test. The Curvv promises good protection for the driver’s head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis in the side pole test. In terms of child safety, the Tata Curvv scored 22.66 points out of 29 in the dynamic child occupant protection test.

The electric iteration of the Curvv managed to secure slightly more points than its ICE version. In adult and child occupant protection, it received 30.81 points out of 32 and 44.83 points out of 49, respectively. While the driver’s and co-driver’s head, neck, and chest protection were rated as good, protection for the driver’s legs and the co-driver’s left leg was rated as adequate.

In the side movable barrier test, the driver’s head and abdomen protection was rated as good, while chest protection was rated as adequate. The electric coupe SUV offered good protection for the driver’s head, chest, pelvis, and abdomen in the side pole test. It scored 23.83 points out of 29 in the dynamic child occupant protection test.

One must note that the Tata Curvv and Curvv EV come with Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) offering features such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and more.

Earlier this year, the Nexon secured a 5-star safety rating in Global NCAP, and now it has done it again in Bharat NCAP. The subcompact SUV managed to score 29.41 points out of 32 and 43.83 points out of 49 in adult and child occupant protection, respectively. It provided good protection for both the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck during the frontal offset deformable barrier crash test. The Nexon secured 14.65 points out of 16 in the driver’s chest protection test, rating it as adequate.

With a score of 14.76 out of 16, the compact SUV offered good protection for the driver’s head and abdomen and adequate chest protection in the side movable barrier test. The driver’s head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis protection were also rated as good in the side pole test. In the dynamic child occupant protection test, it scored 22.83 points out of 29, thanks to its child restraint system. The Nexon’s standard safety kit includes six airbags, electronic stability control, Isofix, and hill hold control.
